Sanyo Video Projector Warranty in regards to dead
Pixels Versus Studio Experience Projectors ( Boxlight) warranty in regards
to dead pixel policy.
Sanyo builds the PLVZ-1 and PLVZ-2 and PLVZ-70 which are rebadged by Studio Experience. A Sanyo dealer will tell you its the
same unit, why buy a Studio Experience. Originally The Studio Experience
video projectors came with a 3 year warranty and Sanyo only one year
warranty and the Studio Experience units were cheaper.
Times have changed and now Sanyo has increased the warranty
period to match Studio Experience and in some cases the Sanyo units may even
be a few dollars cheaper.
Don't be fooled by the fact that they have the same warranty
length. Where the big difference is is in the DEAD PIXEL POLICY.
On a wide xga projector there are 2,764,800 pixels
(921, 600 each color).
Studio Experience has a pixel policy that only allows
ZERO Red, ZERO Green and 3 blue pixels to be faulty. So a worse
case scenario leaves 3 dead pixels on your screen. Although you may
notice them if you get up close to the screen , in normal use you will not
notice them. This would be no different then a small dust spec on the lens.
This warranty is for 3 years
Sanyo video projectors have a substantially broader
policy
"Sanyo's warranty a 99.99 % of
dead-pixel free panels., however, on a regular panel, there are 921,600
pixels, if the dead pixels do not exceed the 0.01% (or 92 pixels) , it is
considered within spec. "
That policy works out to 276 total dead
pixels before Sanyo will warranty the unit !!!
Please note: That is the official Sanyo
policy however, Sanyo is a very reputable company and we do not believe they
would actually enforce such a extremely high count before providing service.
